I've read some of Tena's new blog. Right message. WRONG messenger. She insulted me on Eschaton. She called me an "ignorant putz" one day and never apologized for it. I responded by never responding to any of her comments again. Now she has left Eschaton and has started a blog.
Fine. But don't start by saying Eschaton (The A-List blog she is referring to) was mean. She was mean. And she never apologized for it.

I've read her blog and there's a genuine mea culpa over there. She's readily admitting her part in the meanness. I think it's pretty insightful, myself. I've been reading comments at Atrios' place, and very occasionally commenting, for about 3 years, mostly "don't feed the trolls, please" type stuff and objecting when nasty stereotypes are flung around. The snideness and meanness? I never understood it. Now Tena seems to have taken a long look at the situation and her role in it and clearly doesn't like what she sees. More name-calling and finger-pointing is a less that fruitful response. -- Sparkle Plenty, aka cs, art is bread.
She could apologize to all she has wronged. I'haven't seen that.

Tena is on a path of healing and I will be checking in once in a while but she is pointing to something that doesn't make too much sense and that is: poor old Atrios as some voodoo monster of mind-control.
I figure that the comments on his blog are laissez faire and not at all top-down determined and ego-driven.

It may have evolved into a mea culpa, but it didn't start out as a mea culpa.
I've been calling for commenters to elevate the discourse for months now, and Tena called me out on it, for speaking the truth. She was being deliberately obtuse and not willing to listen to the truth.
I wonder if she realizes that she may have hurt Atrios with all of the drama. I suppose it doesn't matter.

I hope she's had an epiphany, but from my prior experiences with her, I don't trust the situation because I don't have any personal evidence to show me that she walks her talk. I won't go into what I've experienced, though.
You're a sweet person, and she will appreciate your support.
I don't mean to be harsh, but I have personal reasons why this whole thing bugs me to no end.
Tena was always emotional, quick to misconstrue (not deliberately, but consistently) what someone else was saying and then fly off the handle at them, and not letting go. I've seen people apologize to her when she was plainly in the wrong, and never understood why.
As someone said, it's just a farking blog!
It may be about "Speaking Truth to Power" now but I think what it is really about is that she is bluefaced pissed that she didn't get her way for once. I cannot figure out why she has such a cult following. Nobody kicked her off the blog. If she wants to go away I wish she would do it quietly. When on the blog everything was about Tena. Now that she is off the blog everything is still about Tena, the overaged spoiled brat.
